Why is the EOT Crane also Known as the Overhead Crane?

In layman language, an EOT crane is a machine used to transfer heavy loads in a workspace. Functionally, it can be lowered, raised and moved up and down in attach and move manner.

The structure of an EOT crane comprises a runway beam, also known as the bridge that facilitates the movement of heavy objects from one place to another. It is for this reason that it is also known as an overhead crane. This runway beam is nothing but tracks or rails. It acts as a base on which the trolleys run along the rail's length.

Cranes facilitate the bi-directional movement of loads in four directions. It is required for storage, fabrication, loading and unloading of goods in indoor or outdoor environments. To operate an overhead bridge, an operator makes use of wired or wireless controls.

Broadly, there are two classifications of EOT cranes, put as:

Cranes running on top

The term "top running crane" applies to a crane that comprises a trolley that runs on top of rails mounted on a runway beam or a bridge and is supported by crane-specific columns. A bridge crane is benefitted from high lift height and low headroom. These cranes can be further classified as:

Single Girder: Single girder EOT crane made of a trolley and hoist frame, end truck, and a single bridge girder. The load on tyres is less; thus, it is a cost-effective option to bolster new structures with the need for replacement.

Double Girder: This comprises a trolley hoist unit, end trucks, and twin bridge girders, with the trolley's tracks mounted on top. A crane's hoist is installed over the bridge for a greater hook height in a double girder EOT crane.

Cranes running on bottom

It's also known as an underslung crane since the end trucks travel on the runway's bottom flange. It's typically hung from the ceiling because there aren't any additional columns needed to support the runway. An under-running crane has many benefits, such as no dedicated floor space required, saves the cost of the supporting system and can be used with inclined ceilings or various crane systems.

How to Use Single Girder EOT Crane Safely?

In the modern industrial process, emerging equipment lifting has dramatically improved the efficiency of production. At the same time, it is also essential to take safety precautions while using any EOT Crane. Advanced machines have reduced the labor intensity and improved the safety of production. However, with the rapid development of the industry, single-girder EOT crane usage is increasing. Modern lifting equipment has been used in many industries and applications. Let's talk about how to ensure safety measures while using a single girder crane.

Crane manufacturers in India have instructed the operators about the safety measures as mentioned below:

•When you operate a single girder crane, use it smoothly and slowly. A sudden movement of the equipment with a heavy load may cause mishaps. Before lifting the load, check the stack part of slings, hook, and other parts that need to be tightened. To avoid any load swing, the crane needs to be at the top of the load. This should be done before lifting the hoist. Do not swing the crane outside the region. The crane should be vertical with the sling and do not pull the crane.

•While using a single girder EOT crane, ensure that the close by working force is away from the lifting loads, and focus on the progressing rate and move mode of the lifting load. Over-burdening is taboo during the lifting cycle, and ensure that the slings are ready before lifting the heap. The lifting burden cannot be suspended, except if there is an issue with the control power supply.

•When the single girder EOT crane is suspended, dump the entirety of the slings from the hook of the crane, for the reason that during the movement of crane, for the movement that slings suspended over the hook will cause a likely risk. The operator can't ship the load over an individual; special attention is required when utilizing a magnet or vacuum. The heap is probably going to fall due to the magnet or force of the vacuum gear failure. It is conceivable that the heap will tumble down.

To ensure the operation is managed safely, know more information about the security methods. We can also introduce you to the double girder EOT crane manufacturer for understanding the usage of such cranes in the industry.
